Genuine ghd approved online retailers and how to recognise them

Buying ghd straighteners online these days is a complete gamble, with nearly 60% of the websites currently advertising low cost ghd selling fake ghd stylers. So how exactly are you to know where to buy your ghd from.

GHD have a nice little system were approved ghd online retaielrs are given a seal to display on their website.

This seal can then be clicked, taking you to ghdhair.com and verifying if it is a genuine site or not.

The domain of the website will appear in the bottom of the box, in this case it's http://www.ghd-uk.co.uk/ below that will be the date and time, and your ip address ( i've deleted my ip)

Now if you are on a HTTPS website the domain of the site might not appear, this is a bug with the ghd script but all the rest of the information will be shown.

Again simply clicking this image will take you to ghdhair.com and you will see a pop up with confirmation of the sites validity. (see the image left, again we used ghd uk for this demonstration). Now always check the address bar displays the ghdhair.com address and the page hasnt been faked up. But if you see site approved in nice green text, click the continue shopping and you can buy ghd in confidence.

We have a list of ghd approved retailers for you below. All of which provide genuine ghd straighteners and stylers and provide various special offers and great deals on ghd stylers

getting your ghd straighteners repaired

When your ghd break it can seem to be a complete disaster, but don't dispare, they can be repaired. Now theres two methods to choose from for repairs, the first is to send them to ghd the alternative is to have them repaired by an independant company.

Now if you have a IV styler, and its uinder two years old, its still under warranty. That means you pop over to the official ghd repair website and fill in the form, you'll then print off a address label ( or write it out if you dont have a printer). You then wrap your styler with proof of purchase and post it off to ghd. The ghd repairs address is
UK: ghd, PO BOX 397, Keighley, BD20 0WX
International: ghd, Unit 12, Ryefield Way, Silsden, West Yorkshire, BD20 0EF

It will take about 14 days for your repair to be done (sometimes faster). But then you'll have a nice shiney working set of ghd again. and lovely straight hair.

If your ghd hair straighteners are more than 2 years old you might still be able to get ghd to repair (or replace them) follow the advise above and chance your luck. I've dealt with people who had ghd's over 4 years old fixed and replaced by ghd.

The seond option is to take them to a local repair company, searching google will produce a swathe of repair companies claiming to be authorised repair companies. But as with anything its pot luck when you choose a repair company. Do a little research and try twitter or facebook to get a an idea or recommendation for good repair company.

ghd thermal protector spray

protect you hair while straightening

Let's talk about hair care. I think its common knowledge at this point that the environment, coloring, and heat styling can all damage hair. But it's this last portion that I want to focus on, damage from heat curling.

Unquestionably, employing heat to your hair everyday will eventually harm your locks, leaving them frizzy and injured. However, it's effortless to protect your hair while treating.

One of the latest hair trends is the heat protection sprays, with many flat iron companies, like ghd manufacturing their own heat protection sprays. The greater number of these sprays consist of a combination of proteins or herbs meant to guardhair from heat treating damage while improving hair's shine and overall health.

GHD Thermal Protector Spray. The GHD line is createdfor all hair types, offering heat protection for dry/coarse, normal to fine or weak/damaged hair. Each type comes in a 5.1 ounce bottle, and touts 50% extra protection during heat treating. All three contain sunflower seed oil and provide UVA protection against further damage up to 400 degrees Fahrenheit.

ghd thermal protector spray Main features include:

New heat activated Heat Shield Protection

Fake ghd hair straighteners. Avoid buying them

Nearly 60% of the UK public are quite comfortable with owning and buying counterfeit products, clothes, bags, sunglasses and watches being the most common. And recently disreputable online traders have begun trading in fake brand name electrical goods like ghd straighteners.

There are several more serious consequences of buying fake electrical goods than there is to say buying a fake pair of designer shoes. With fake shoes you might end up with wet feet, with fake ghd straighteners... you can end up severely injured or worse.

Authentic ghd stylers as sold by online retailers like ghd-uk and exclusive brands are manufactured by ghd to the highest possible standards, with quality control and checked to conform to British and European standards. And for an item that heats up to several hundred degrees Celsius in a matter of seconds, you can imagine how important it is they are made to the highest levels of quality.

Fake ghd straighteners are, on the other hand made from sub standard and shoddily put together components. In non controlled or regulated workshops and are not subject to ANY safety checking or quality control. Each time you switch them on and put them to your head, you are potentially risking sever injury that could leave you scarred for life.

And that's if you even get the straighteners you order. The fake ghd stylers are created and distributed by large criminal organisations, mostly based in the Far East. They often take your money and you have little or no recourse to get your cash back if the item you order doesn't arrive. And what are worse these unscrupulous criminals are often quite happy to collect all your personal details, credit card numbers and send you your stylers. Then using your details and card numbers to steal your identity and sell it on to other parties around the world, help fund other criminal activities and potentially leaving your bank account empty and a credit history in tatters.

If you are unfortunate enough to buy these fake ghd hair straighteners, you will be left with irons with no warranty, ghdhair will not give you the time of day and no legitimate service engineer will repair them if they develop a fault.

How to spot the sale of fake ghd stylers and their advertisers

If it sounds too good to be true it is.

If they are selling limited edition stylers from several years ago, gold bag, dark and pure, kiss pink etc are all out of stock. There are the odd few in salons or in private hands but no online retailer has large numbers and those that are available are sold at large mark up from the original price. So if they are selling them at bargain prices, odds are that they are fakes.

If they are advertised as 70% off or other crazy claim they'll be fakes.

If they are under £80, forget it, no one sells them that cheap.

If they are selling them on eBay be careful, check seller's rep and again unless they are second hand no one will sell them less than retail unless they are fake.

Look for the wet products. All legitimate authorised online retailers sell a wide range of ghd shampoo, conditioners, hairspray and other products and not just stylers and straighteners.

No UK customer service or phone number. This is a common sign of fake sites.

Only accept PayPal. This is the big danger sign. No legitimate authorised retailer ONLY uses PayPal for payment. They will use payment platforms like WorldPay or similar professional service. PayPal is sometimes offered as a secondary payment platform but never the only one. Look upon these sites with doubt.

Look for the GHD Approved box on legitimate websites. Check the date and time on the ghd approved online retailer box and click it to check the authorised retailer seal is genuine.

And if in doubt buy straighteners directly from ghd direct.

With any luck, if you follow the simple ideas in this article you will avoid getting stuck with subpar fake ghd straighteners.
